Yesterday Georg and I went out to practice stick shift driving. He did really well. The main thing, I think, is not letting yourself get frustrated. Just taking it in stride, not getting upset when you stall out. Because every stalls out when they first learn.
He doesn't need to do any city driving; I'll do all that. He'll only need to drive on the highway, which should be easier. But we're going to try and get a few more practice sessions in before we go.
I haven't added anything else to the car since I ran out of E6000. Danged inconvenient of the hobby shop to run out on me. I'm going to stop at the Chapel Hill hobby shop on my way home from work today and see if they have any. I do like the way the aquarium plant is looking on the right front fender. I split it into pieces and glued the pieces up separately, so it would look more natural. Also so the plant wouldn't get caught on the tire. Note to self: get more plastic plants. I've seen used ones on Ebay for cheap.
Tomorrow they're going to fix the passenger window. The window was broken a couple of weeks ago when The Stupidest Thief in the World broke into my car in a failed attempt to steal my CD player. Got the glass replaced right away, but somehow the switch the opens the window had gotten broken as well. So the window wouldn't go up or down. My mechanic had to order a new switch, which they did. I would definitely class this as a "necessary repair." We couldn't drive in a parade with one window up the whole way!
Last night I placed another order with American Science and Surplus for plastic fish. I'm almost out! Fortunately the order will arrive in time. I'll finish up the decorating over the weekend. American Science and Surplus is really the most amazing catalog. They have just about everything, and so cheap. When you're decorating an entire car, a little savings per item ends up being a lot! My only complaint is that the catalog has drawings, no photos. So it's hard to tell what something is going to look like. But on their web site they're starting to post photos of some items.
