back home

We've been home since Monday evening, trying to get back into our routine. I found out that the USA Today story won't run for several weeks, just before Art Car Fest in San Francisco. I'm not expecting my photo to end up in the paper but the photographer did say he would send me a copy after the story runs. I don't have any shots of me and the car, because I'm always the one taking the photos. So it will be really nice, not just to have a picture of me and my car, but one taken by a professional. I won't be able to post it online though. Cause of that copyright thing.

Last night I was at a small party and someone recognized me from the Kirby Derby a couple of months ago. He called Undersea Mah Jongg the "mermaid car." I always love to hear a new name for the car. Usually people call it "fish car" or (if the bubble machine is on) "bubble car." Also girls call it "Barbie car," which I still find bizarre seeing as there are hundreds of fish and three Barbies on it.

But "mermaid car" is a new one. I guess Patricia and her mermaid costume were the most memorable thing about the car that day. She did look great. Darn, I just realized that I had promised Hunter and Logan I would take their pictures in the mermaid seat. In all the hubbub I forgot all about it. Oh well, something to look forward to next time.

I've got way too much work to catch up on, to get anything done on the car right now. But I am really wanting to do more on the inside. Got to order more white beads, I want to use them around all the fabric edges inside, and also over the chrome (around the windows, etc) on the outside. I thought I had a lifetime supply of all those beads, until we cleaned the trunk last week and I suddenly realized I was almost out.

I am a wildlife photographer. Over the thanksgiving weekend I spotted your car on I-95.Usually the animasls I take photos of are in the wild not on a car but I couldn't resist. Thanks for making a long tedious drive not so long and boring.
