The Cotton Boll is having their annual sale today, tomorrow and Saturday. Fabrics are on sale in the Chapel Hill store, but the big event is the demo model sewing machine sale at all three stores.
If you have any interest in owning a quality sewing machine, this is a great time to do it. I bought a Viking 400 from their demo model sale 8 years ago, and it's still a fantastic machine. I love it as much as I love my Mac. (and that's saying something!) My only quibble is that, since it's European, I can't buy basic bobbins or presser feet from the fabric store. Have to get special ones that fit the Viking. But still, it's a great machine.

i've never been to that store. it's on elliot road in chapel hill, right? do they only have fabrics & machines? or yarns & stuff, too?
No, it's just fabric. There's a yarn store across the hall from them. They're in the same shopping center with Chapel Hill Wellspring.
I have a question for Sarah who has purchased the Viking/Husqvarna 400 sewing machine. Could she tell me what this machine needs to come with, in terms of power cords, etc.?? I'm thinking of buying a Viking 400 on Ebay, but the photos listed seem to be missing something, but I can't figure out what.
Hi Mona! My Viking 400 came with the power cable which is attached to the foot pedal. Inside the accessory compartment were some bobbins, six presser feet labeled A, B, C, D, E and J, a little screwdriver, a post that would be used for a second spool of thread, a little brush thing, and a flat plastic thing that I never figured out the purpose of.
I think that's all that came with it! I hope the one you are looking at has the manual.
To Sarah: The "flat plastic thing" is probably what they call a hump jumper; it looks like a H but with one side being thinner/thicker than the other. It's for when there is a hump such as when sewing jeans & pants that you run into & instead of slowing down to one needle point at a time, you use this piece in front & in back of presser foot for ease over this area.
To Mona: I just bought from & trust this dealer who is having a fantastic inventory sale. You can contact him directly (name is Kevin) & tell him Rose sent you: Ken's Sewing Center/ 912 Second Street; Muscle Shoals, AL 35661; 1-877-536-7739 9-5pm central time toll free. Shipping is great, too. My contact: bagheeraraven@aol.com Good luck!
