facelift

If you're looking at my actual web journal rather than the LJ feed, you've probably noticed that things look a little different. I had to restructure the site -- having two separate journals for my car and for the rest of my life made no sense -- and while I was at it I freshened up the look a bit too.

I'm interested in opinions, especially about the background graphic. I'm concerned about it affecting readability. My original plan was to use the face graphic from the front page of my site. It looked nice, but I was a little weirded out by having a huge illustration of my own face on every page. I mean, I'm vain and all, just not that vain.

looks good! the young Victoria graphic is fine. not impacting readability for me. the funnystrange header, tho, is looking kinda funky in netscape 7.

okay never mind, i just reloaded the page and all the graphics changed again. now the funnystrange header looks fine. and i'm not sure about the fish graphic. i think it's okay. i mean, i'm not having any trouble reading anything. i like the way the bubbles look.

I might change the background image. In fact I kind of like the idea of changing it all the time.

i had to shift-reload to get the background to change, though the rest of the page was in the new design. the effect was not so great :) this would seem to indicate that even if you did change the background periodically, many of us would never see the change, unless we developed the habit of sh ift-reloading your site every time we visited it.

now, having done the reload, and seeing the correct background, i think it's quite nifty!

I like the fish without feeling strongly about it one way or the other. It perhaps affects readibility a bit - but not so much as to be irritating. A changing graphic would be good - reminds me that I need to change my background castle, which I'm now thoroughly bored with.

Does this mean that you are dropping the "Victoria Regina" branding in a way? I'm curious about that.

i like the lightness of the new design. the blue was kinda depressing in contrast to this.
