car question

I had an oil change right before leaving for the trip. According to the "three months or 3,000 miles" rule, I'm about 100 miles away from needing another one. Should I wait three months, or get another oil change even though the last one was two weeks ago? (Not from Jiffy Lube of course!)

I don't know much about cars, but I would probably split the difference since you won't be driving as much at home, I presume.

The real reason I'm commenting is that Undersea Mah Jongg totally made my day yesterday- I was walking my dog, pissed off because he had run off into the poison ivy thicket earlier, and I looked up and saw the beautiful blue umj. At first I thought "oooooh... art car" and then I realized I knew whose it was. Simon and I admired the beading, etc, and had a much happier walk back home after that. So, thanks for parking in my neighborhood!

Hey Raynorgrace! That's so cool that you saw UMJ! Where do you live? I was at Stoneline last night, it's a furniture company I work for in their home office. They live on a little cul-de-sac near the Ephesus Road school. (I don't know the name of the neighborhood alas). I'm there every Wednesday evening :)

i say, "better safe than sorry". you did a lot of hard driving, and it seems like UMJ could use a nice day at the spa.

fwiw, i always get my oil changed at the 3k mark, even though it's usually a good month until the date on the sticker. my crx is at 192,000 miles (and 36+ mpg).

The place where I have my car serviced said it wouldn't hurt to go up to 6,000 miles between changing (my manual recommends 5,000), so unless your car is burning oil for some reason (check it to make sure you're not low), I'd wait.

Thanks for the advice everyone! I'm pretty sure I'm not burning oil & they just replaced the engine seals. So I guess I'll wait & have it changed in early July, right before Artscape.

I live in the Ridgefield subdivision off Willow before you get into the part of the 'hood where you were. Glad to know I can go visit the fishies every week! That street is not on my usual walk, but I had to cut it short due to the threatening clouds. All your art car pic's make me impatient for my car to be paid off and old enough for me to feel okay decorating it.
