sad news for movie fans

The Starlite drive-in's screen has burned down.

I think about going to the Starlite often, and always have a fabulous time there, but rarely actually go. Just a couple of days ago Lisa and I talked about having an art car night there.

The owner says he's going to rebuild and re-open. I hope he does, but I wonder if money is a problem. (The Herald-Sun said he had fire insurance, but the News & Observer said the screen was not insured.) I think I'm going to send him a donation.

i saw that on the news last night when i was getting a beer at yeats and i think i freaked out the bartender with my exclamations- i have never been to the starlite, but it's been on my to-do list for ages.

if and when he rebuilds, we should organize a night at the drive-in, for all those folks who have been putting it off.

i sometimes have problems getting people to go because they don't like the movie that is showing, or it might rain. me, i don't care about either of those things :)
