Did someone forget to circulate the memo that it is too damned soon to be inundated with Christmas cheer? I expect it from TV advertising and mall displays -- heck, that's why I have a DVR and avoid malls -- but people were buying Christmas trees from Home Depot this afternoon, and several of my neighbors have their lights up already.
It's too soon! We haven't even polished off the pumpkin pie yet! Aren't these people going to be royally sick of their Christmas decorations by the end of the month? I know I will.
The worst I've encountered was one small town in France that we were in one August and that STILL HAD THE CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS FROM LAST YEAR UP. I mean, what do they do, just have one decoration free month a year or something?
I like all the decoration stuff - but the whole fun of it is that it's brief - or should be.
No kidding! We're going to put up some lights on the front of our house too, but we're going to wait until it's at least December.
One of the sets of neighbors with lights up already have such a huge display that they have to get started now, to get it all up by Christmas. But they don't have to turn the lights *on* yet.
