Today was Jacob Bronowski's birthday. Thanks to my dad for the link.
(The post linked to above has a very nice biography of Dr. Bronowski, though the comments include the frustrating information that The Ascent of Man is available on DVD, but only for the European region.)
Thanks for the credit Sarah. The blog in question, namely The Panda's Thumb, which I have been following since the Dover ID "Panda Trial" began, now has a link to a DVD set that will play on USA DVD players, although it's a little too pricey for me. Apparently the book follows the series very well, and is available S/H for a few dollars (see Amazon.com). I don't think I ever owned a copy of this and may well get one. Note en passent: The 200 year anniversary of Charles Darwin's birth is on Feb. 12 2006. Following Richard Feynman and being an electronics nerd, I used to think that Maxwell's development of electromagnet theory was the most important scientific theory of the 19th century, but having been converted to Darwinism a decade or so ago, I think the theory of evolution was clearly far more important.
