meanwhile, back in durham

Back home it's a bad day to be extremely conservative, extremely nuts, or both.

All the candidates I liked won, and all the candidates I loathed lost. What is this strange emotion I'm experiencing? Could it be .. optimism? Like any good high, it won't last long, but damn it feels good right now.

Yeah, it's a bad time to be a republican. It just goes to show, if you start a war you can't manage, run up astronomical public debt and work toward curtailing civil liberties at every turn, then the people will vote to give you slightly less power than you had before*.

I for one am not encouraged by the Dem's taking control. Our Government has been bought and sold by corporate interest. All we've done is trade one set of shills for another. When I can vote for a candidate who is not the lesser of two evils i'll get excited.

*of course the Dem's were there all along participating in these fiascos.

I'm not expecting a new paradise on earth, but if you sincerely believe nothing will change, I've got some friends in Nigeria who have a fantastic money-making proposal for you.

Given the Scots' reputation for dreading good things for the bad things soon to come and even out, I wonder how any Scots-Dems are feeling right now.

Sarah, I'm pessimistic not gullible.
