diamonds are forever

January 1 movie: Diamonds are Forever. This wasn't that great of a movie, but it was fun, and nice to see some classic Vegas. I wonder what that hotel was that they had rebranded as "The Whyte House." I didn't recognize it.

this is actually, if it matters, my least favorite bond movie (except maybe for never say never). it's actually worse than the one where they try to make sean connery look japanese.

Really! Worse than those awful Roger Moore movies like Moonraker, Octopussy and A View to a Kill?

yes, probably because i have happy memories of being a kid and seeing the roger moore movies with my family and having fun.

i have also always felt that they made the two creepy assasins gay because that would make them seem even creepier to a lot of people. however, someone recently told me that in the book, they are lovers because there's no one else they can trust, or something like that. that's not clear in the movie, however, so i still find the handling of those characters rather offensive.

i'm pretty sure never say never again is my favorite! (mainly for the "i've gotten your suit all wet!" "yes, but my martini is still dry!" exchange.) of course i've only ever seen one bond movie all the way through, and it starred pierce brosnan . . . lame.

oh wait, i did see that new bond movie. it was ok, except for the extended romance montage. i guess they put it in for the ladies, but the girl i saw it with and i mostly just snickered during it.
