oh no, a meme

snagged from dickumbrage, whose selections were so tough I couldn't guess any of them! I tried to make mine pretty easy.

#1 could be X3, I suppose. I'm being a bit liberal on my interpretation of "light bulb".

Phil said:

Crikes -- I can only do #10 (Buckaroo Banzai). Then again, I don't know many movies.

Half of #8 ("Would that be #4? hahahah!") sounds like Brazil, but the cigarette (and maybe the psychiatry) rule that out.

Phil: you got #10! #8 is the one that I don't know if people will get, because it's a movie that I really love but maybe not as many people have seen it. (Besides, I would never use "brazil" as a clue for Brazil! ha!)

Lee: no, that's not it! I have another clue for #1, but it wouldn't help because it also applies to X3. Maybe I should add extra clues for all of them:

1: number in title
2: witch
3: mule
4: spoof
5: vegetable
6: solitaire
7: tunnel
8: ugly duckling
9: interior decorator
10: Phil got it already!

#9, that one with doris day talking on the phone in the bath to... was it rock hudson?

is #3 a clint eastwood movie?

is #4 austin powers?

Sarah said:

#3 and #9 -- yes! #4 is the movie Austin Powers was ripping off ("homage" if you want to be nice :)

Yikes, these are difficult!
I only recognize nr 8, which is Brazil I think - and could nr 5 possibly be Wallace & Gromit and the Curse of the Were Rabbit?

I have a feeling I should know more of these... I love the keywords for nr 2, those are brilliant!

Ah, if nr 3 is a Clint Eastwood movie, is it the one with a nun in it?
(although I can't remember a massacre, but I don't think I've ever seen the whole movie)

Called something something sister Sarah... Three mules for sister Sarah?

#1 is Stalag-17, which I got without the second hint.

The hint tells me that #6 is Manchurian Candidate.

#7 sounds like The Great Escape, but I wouldn't have narrowed it down without the second hint.

Is #8 Kiss of the Spider Woman?

#9 is Pillow Talk, I'm pretty sure, and again I got that without reading the comments.

What does it say about you that at least three of your favorite films are prison(camp) movies?

Sarah said:

Bummble: you got #5! yay! #8 isn't Brazil, but that's a good guess! That's a kind of tricky one, it's an old movie that I love.

I seriously didn't think these would be hard. I tried them on Georg and he got them all right away, so I thought they were too easy! I guess that's what happens when you live with someone for 10 years and you know what movies they like :)

Anonymous: Three Mules for Sister wasn't the one I was thinking of, but the keywords might apply equally to it now that I think about it. If there's an undertaker in it, I'll give you that one!

Sarah said:

Kevin: You got 1, 6, 7 and 9!

The list of movies is somewhat skewed because I was trying to pick movies that I thought people would have a chance of recognizing. For instance I didn't list Theodora Goes Wild because I may be the only person who reads this who's ever seen it (except maybe Kip). I blew it with #8 so I'm just going to give that one: it's Now, Voyager. The keywords might apply equally to Kiss of the Spider Woman so you get that one too!

#4 must be In Like Flynt then-- of course, you just watched those!

Actually, I'm not sure if Kiss of the Spider Woman qualifies for "ugly duckling"--it's been too long since I've seen it to remember.

I found #2 by actually checking the keywords on IMDB, and it's obvious in retrospect. What a wonderful film.

I wasn't sure which Sergio Leone/Clint Eastwood film was #3 until I looked up "undertaker"--I thought that the cemetary scene in The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly might have qualified. (That's my favorite of their films.) The one you chose is good, too.

And I was pretty sure that I knew #4 based on the discussion, but I've never actually seen it. It is, however, the only film on the IMDB to have the keyword "bouillabaisse".
