Nov 26 movie: Stalag 17. When I've seen a movie over and over, I try to look for / think about something different on each viewing. This time I watched [name redacted] even when he wasn't the focus of the scene. He never gives it away, never looks the tiniest bit suspicious. Not until late in the movie, when Holden starts needling him and he realizes Holden is onto him. If anything, the only giveaway is the lack of reaction: there are a few scenes where something happens that surprises the other inmates, and [redacted]'s face is carefully blank. Which totally makes sense for his character.
[Edited to remove major spoiler -- sorry!]

It's too late for me now, but I'm sure there are others who might watch the movie some day.
Other than that, interesting post. I'd comment more, but signing in is a chore. A perishingly small one, but still a chore, and I'm just that lazy.
Speaking of movies, I just got a 1939 Russian Fantasy to watch. No subtitles, alas, but it should be interesting anyway. The library here in town has a shelf of Russian kids' movies, and I like to check stuff out (literally).
Gosh, I'm sorry. I've written about this movie so many times, that I just assumed by now everyone knew who did it. I should remember that just because I've seen a movie twenty times, doesn't mean everyone else has too. I took the spoiler out & will try not to do that again.
I know I've mentioned before, but perhaps not to you, that I still bear a mild grudge against the Forbidden Broadway plays for spoiling the ending of Anna Karenina.
