May 22 movie: Rebecca. I never get tired of this movie. This time I realized that the main character has no name! How did I never notice that before? All they ever call her is "the second Mrs. de Winter." I also read about the differences between the book and the movie (spoilers behind a cut):
In the book Maxim did kill Rebecca: she drove him to do it because she didn't want to die of cancer. The movie is almost the same, but a toothless version: she goads him into killing her, and he intends to do it, but before he can pull the trigger she slips and falls, hits her head and dies. It's the only part of the movie that I've always found rather lame, and I'm glad to know that it wasn't supposed to be like that.
