a split window double-cab! where did you see it?

It was on 85 South, heading away from Durham. I saw it pass by when I was getting on the highway & luckily the driver was going slow enough for me to catch up and take the picture. I had never seen one like this before!

this is a variant on the old bus model (aka type 2, i think.) double and single cab buses are a little unusual. double more so than single, i think. my friend in raleigh has one. all three truck bed sides are on hinges so you can convert it to a flat platform if you wish. the carrying capacity is also larger than most pickup trucks today. they are powered by the aircooled bus engine, so they are not *that* powerful, but if you don't mind going slow they can carry a lot. i'd love to have one for garden stuff.

the engine is in the rear, under the bed.
